Review of Local Position on Recycling

The Janesville League of Women Voters approved a local study of recycling in Janesville. The goal is to review and revise the current position on recycling in Janesville. The Global Climate Change and Sustainable Communities committee is organizing this study.
A Lunch and Learn session was held on January 17th. This can be viewed on "YouTube"
Discussion and consensus will take place on Monday, January 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hedberg Public Library Community Room, 316 south Main Street.

Privatization Study

The study group is planning to interview local government managers about local privatization initiatives. Discussion and consensus meetings will be held in March.
Materials suggested for review include: An Illinois Commission on Government Forcasting and Accountablity report; the Seattle League of Women Voters study, and an article by Princeton professor Paul Starr.

Juvenile Justice and the Use of the Juvenile Detention Center

At the annual meeting the Janesville League of Women Voters approved a new study of the Juvenile Justice system in Rock County.
