The proposed study circle schedule beginning the first week in Oct:

We are excited about the League's leadership in initiating this conversation in Janesville.

A blog has been created to encourage discussion about this topic. It can be found at "Janesville League of Women Voters Sustainability".

The League of Women Voters of Janesville, together with other League chapters around Wisconsin, is asking people to take action to reduce their energy use on October 10, 2010. The 10.10.10 Challenge is part of a global effort to help curb global climate change and reduce our individual carbon footprint.

Initiated by 350.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing citizens around the world to actively work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the effort includes participants from more than 110 countries, including 47 U.S. states.

The League of Women Voters of Janesville will publish and distribute a 10.10.10 public pledge form for people to sign, committing to take at least one action over a period of 10 days. One can pledge to plug electronics into power strips that are turned off at night, wash clothes in cold water, bike or use public transportation to work for one day, or even insulate their home. The pledge form will be available in public libraries, participating schools, as well as here.
